“For me, Alpaca is more than a business. Alpaca is my pride.”

Karina Pomroy,Founder

When it comes to quality of fiber and craftsmanship, transparency and honesty are our top priorities. We help improve the lives of our artisans by providing fair compensation and ensure that our customers receive high-quality, sustainable, and long-lasting Alpaca that rises high above the tides of fast fashion.

Karina’s journey into the world of Alpaca started over thirty years ago in those marketplaces in Cuzco. Yours starts here, today, with Alpakari.

Alpakari – Quechua; Alpaca made with affection, in Peru.

Founded on Passion

Founder Karina Pomroy is the true Peruvian link. Born and raised on the coast of Peru, Karina spent her childhood walking to and from school in handmade Alpaca gloves and sweaters. The quality and comfort of the natural fiber sparked a passion in her that would later define her life and career.

At age 16 she ventured into the Andes, deep in the heart of Peru, where she met the artisans behind the treasured garments of her childhood. Within the mountain city marketplaces of Cuzco, Karina fell in love with the mystique, animals, tradition, and craftspeople behind the gloves she had worn all her life.

Karina founded Alpakari to connect the top-quality Alpaca producers of Peru with the world. More than twenty years later, Alpakari supports communities and families across Peru as they blend thousand-year-old techniques and modern innovation to craft timeless styles from unmatched Peruvian Alpaca.
